Boy killed in Canterbury riverbed crash named

Police have released the name of the 9-year-old boy who died after a vehicle crashed into a riverbed in Canterbury at the weekend.

He was Kayde Anderson, of Dunsandel.

Emergency services were called to the scene, at the Clyde River near Erewhon Station Hut in the Ashburton district, about 10am on Sunday.

Another person suffered moderate injuries, while a third person had minor injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit examined the scene and the investigation is continuing.
