A driver suffered life-threatening injuries when a car smashed into a tree north of Auckland last night.
The driver was alone in the car when the crash occurred around 5km from Helensville on State Highway 16 at 11pm.
Fire Service staff cut the injured person from the wreckage, and the Westpac helicopter was in position to fly them to hospital.
