Hundreds of travellers scrambled to grab cheap flights priced from $2 to $20 this morning.
The Air New Zealand grabaseat flights started at $2 each way for flights to and from Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland to Hawke's Bay, $10 each way to and from Auckland-Kaitaia, Auckland-Kerikeri and Wellington-Whangarei and $20 each way for Auckland-Dunedin, Wellington-Dunedin and Christchurch-Dunedin.
An Air NZ spokeswoman said several hundred tickets were available to and from Hawke's Bay, Northland and Otago and all had sold out within two hours.
And while travellers would no doubt have been delighted with the cheap fares, they were not the cheapest ever offered by the airline; last year it ran a $1 promotion.
