Brad Callaghan, 32, a structural engineer from Remuera, is charged with the murder of Carmen Thomas last year.

In Auckland District Court today he appeared from Auckland Central Remand Prison via a video link and was furrther remanded in custody by Judge Fred McElrea until April 12.

His lawyer, Stuart Grieve QC, said Callaghan had been transferred out of Auckland several weeks ago and had only returned yesterday.

That did not give him time to review material provided to the defence.

The judge granted an application for an extension of time to apply for a committal hearing.
