Guy trial jury to resume deliberations

The jury in the Ewen Macdonald murder trial will continue their deliberations today on whether he is guilty of murdering his brother-in-law, Scott Guy.

Yesterday, the jury spent the afternoon deliberating, after Justice Simon France summed up the four-week case at the High Court at Wellington.

The jury of seven men and four women retired for the evening just before 5pm.

The Crown alleges Macdonald shot dead Scott Guy, 31, at the end of the driveway of his Feilding home about 4.43am on July 8, 2010.

The 32-year-old has denied the murder.

The Crown says Macdonald killed his brother-in-law after tensions over the future of the family farm they co-managed.

But his defence team says the problems on the farm had all been resolved and Mr Guy's killer remains a mystery.

The jury heard more than three weeks of evidence and submissions from prosecution and defence lawyers, who gave their closing addresses last Friday.
