Rugby league legend Tawera Nikau made a brief appearance in the Huntly District Court this morning and has been bailed to reappear next month.
Nikau, 45, is alleged to have assaulted his daughter Heaven-Leigh outside the Huntly police station on Friday afternoon.
He was accompanied by a woman understood to be his wife, and was patted on the back by locals who also shook his hand as he went into the court.
