A man has admitted the murder of a Hamilton woman.

Dylyn Mitchell Davis had earlier pleaded not guilty to the murder of Aroha Kerehoma in her Nawton home earlier this year.

However, appearing via audio visual link in the High Court at Hamilton today, the 25-year-old pleaded guilty to the charge.

Kerehoma (28) was found dead in her Dominion Rd home early on February 4.

Justice Katz issued Davis with a third-strike warning and further remanded him in custody until sentencing on May 18.

Kerehoma's father Piripi Kiwara told The New Zealand Herald the guilty plea brought relief to the family.

"Everybody that loved Aroha so much, including myself are relieved to see that justice was served today, giving us some peace of mind on that side of our grieving."
