A man has appeared in court charged over the theft of property belonging to a woman found dead in Christchurch.
Police launched a homicide investigation after Kerry Leigh Downey, 52, was found dead on the Port Hills on the edge of the city this morning.
Police investigating the case have not yet publicly identified the body, but are calling for sightings of Ms Downey's car, a red 2001 Suzuki Alto, since she disappeared on Monday night.
The car was discovered in Neville Street, Barrington, in the early hours of this morning.
The arrested man was remanded in custody when he appeared in Christchurch District Court.
