A man has died following a house fire in Christchurch late last night.
Emergency services were called to the blaze at house in Breens Rd, Bishopdale, about 10:40pm.
The man was found inside the house in a critical condition, police said this morning.
He was taken to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
The man was the sole occupant of the property.
The cause of the fire will be investigated.
A scene guard will be in place while Police and Fire and Emergency NZ undertake their inquiries.
