Man found guilty of Wellington Storage fire

A Wellington man has been found guilty of setting fire to a storage facility, destroying millions of dollars worth of property.

Angelo Dominic Bitossi denied setting fire to the Kiwi Self Storage building in Rongotai, which went up in flames in early April, destroying and damaging items in 200 storage units.

Justice Simon France delivered his reserved decision today following a judge-alone trial in the High Court at Wellington last week.

Today, Justice France said the prosecution had proved beyond reasonable doubt that Bitossi had started the fire in April.

Bitossi was remanded in custody until February 5.
