Mother pleads not guilty to baby's murder

The mother of a baby found buried in a makeshift grave in Otahuhu has pleaded not guilty to murder.

Kulukora Akau'ola appeared briefly at the High Court at Auckland this morning.

Her lawyer Graham Newell entered the plea for his client as she stood in the dock.

Justice Patricia Andrews remanded Akau'ola on bail until her two week trial which has been set down for July.

The baby's body was found on June 2 by police who said someone with "first hand knowledge'' had tipped them off.

Christian Afoa has already pleaded guilty to disposing of the body.
