Police have decided not to charge anyone in connection with the death of James Higgie in a motorcycle accident near Alexandra in September.
Mr Higgie, 21, and three other motorcyclists were riding motocross bikes on Earnscleugh Road on September 7 when two machines collided, resulting in injury to one rider and the death of Mr Higgie.
Central Otago CIB Detective Derek Shaw said Mr Higgie's family had been told of the police decision and his death would now be referred to the coroner.
But Mr Shaw said the three surviving motorcyclists would face charges of riding in a dangerous manner and one has been charged with driving with an excess blood alcohol level.
The men are to appear in Alexandra District Court on December 16.
