A car passenger is dead and another seriously injured after a car and truck collided in Gisborne.
Sergeant Marlene Nikora said a truck travelling east on Rutene Road turned right into Maki Street about 5.50pm yesterday when a car travelling in the opposite direction collided with it.
The male rear seat passenger in the car was killed and another passenger seriously injured.
Police were still investigating the accident and family members of the dead man were being notified.
