Police have stepped in to investigate allegations a student hacked into an Auckland school's database and sent pornographic images to all its pupils.
Mt Albert Grammar school said yesterday that it was looking into an incident in which graphic images were sent to all its 2700 students.
Police today confirmed they were also investigating and were working with the school, a spokeswoman said.
No further information was provided.
Yesterday it was revealed a student at Mt Albert Grammar had allegedly created a fake Gmail account, hacked into the school's email database, and then sent pornographic images to all students in the school.
The email address was then deactivated, Radio New Zealand reported.
Mt Albert Grammar school headmaster Dale Burden said the database was immediately closed down after parents notified the school.
