Police have released the name of the woman who was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Ohope on Friday.
She was 62-year-old Gale Williams, from Opape in Toatoa.
Emergency services were called to the crash on Pohutukawa Ave about 1.30pm on Friday.
Ms Williams died at the scene, the two other passengers in the vehicle were uninjured, police said.
Police said it appeared the vehicle had crossed the centre line and collided with a tree on the grass verge.
Enquiries into the cause of the crash are continuing, police said.
