Two motorcyclists killed in Christchurch crash

Two motorcyclists have been killed in a serious crash on Dyers Pass Rd, in Christchurch's Port Hills. 

The crash happened just before 5:15pm and involved two motorcycles, it is unknown whether they were riding together.

Police and St John attended the incident, but both riders died at the scene. 

A police spokesperson said the crash happened between the Sign of the Kiwi Cafe and the Sign of the Takahe.

Traffic is being diverted at Hackthorne Rd and Dyers Pass Rd.

The Serious Crash Unit was advised and police will be investigating the circumstances of the crash.

It is the third fatal motorcycle crash in the South Island this weekend following accidents in Timaru and Nelson on Saturday.

Another two motorcyclists have also been seriously injured in separate crashes across the south over the weekend.
