One person has been critically injured in a crash at Paroa, just south of Greymouth, this morning. 

In a statement, police said they were called to the scene of the two-vehicle crash on State Highway 6, near the intersection with Clough Rd, at about 11.20am. 

One person is reportedly in critical condition. 

The road is closed and motorists are asked to avoid the area. 

The Serious Crash Unit is examining the scene and diversion are in place.
