Kiwi television producer Robert Michael "Bob" Parr, of Arrowtown, has been nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for his role as senior producer of the hit CBS reality series The Amazing Race.

Parr (53), a former member of the British Special Air Service (SAS) Regiment and host of the History Channel show Shadow Force, has already won five Emmys for The Amazing Race, and is this time nominated in the Outstanding Reality Competition category.

The international competition show has run for 17 seasons. It is believed a segment of the race was filmed in Arrowtown a couple of weeks ago.

British-born Parr became a New Zealand citizen in 2008. He is co-founder of the risk management company SO3 Projects, based in Los Angeles, and oversees security for many screen productions around the world. He is also the owner of Morvoren Media, a New Zealand-based production company.

The 62nd Emmy Awards will air on August 29, hosted by Jimmy Fallon. The top nominee was the World War 2 drama The Pacific, produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks, with 24 nominations.

The most nominated reality series were Dancing With the Stars with nine bids, The Amazing Race with seven and American Idol with six.
