Boil water notice for Roxburgh

The Central Otago District Council has issued a boil water notice for Roxburgh residents.

The council said on its website it had to implement notice because turbidity in the Clutha River was affecting the performance of the Roxburgh water treatment plant.

The river is running high and dirty after days of heavy rain in the Otago lakes headwaters.

Residents on council water supply in Roxburgh and Lake Roxburgh Village were asked to boil all water for drinking, cooking and cleaning teeth.

The council said the notice could be in place for up to a week.

Water tanker supplies were being organised and would be located at the Lake Roxburgh Village Hall, and on Abbotsford St near Roxburgh Area School.
