It was announced yesterday that the tournament would be the season opener for the world tour in 2018-19 and 2019-20.
Winter Games chief executive Martin Toomey said the news was "exciting".
"For it to become a world tour event for the first time and that helps us attract the best of the best athletes ... The more we can actually let people know that the best of the world are here, hopefully more people will go and watch and that can lead to greater participation."
He believed securing the world tour event would help the Winter Games achieve its primary goal of being an elite sporting event.
World Curling Tour president Armin Harder said athletes had come to enjoy participating in the Winter Games over the years, and they would become even more popular with teams able to pick up "valuable" ranking points on the tour.
"This event has become a highlight for many top mixed doubles teams over the last number of years."
"To be able to list the beautiful country of New Zealand as one of our tour stops is certainly a big thrill for fans and players."
The event will be part of the Winter Games Curling Tournament held at the Maniototo International Curling Rink in Naseby from August 26-30.
Entry will be free for spectators.
