Divers start Clutha search for boy

Police divers are in the water searching for the body of a Dunedin teenager presumed to have drowned in the Clutha River on Tuesday.

A team of four divers from Wellington will start searching from the point on the river near Roxburgh where the boy disappeared after getting into trouble while swimming with a friend.

Senior Sergeant Bruce Adam, of Wellington, said the water was clear and the deepest his team expect to have to dive was 10m

Contact Energy has dropped the river flow but the water was still swift in the middle of the river so divers would be working their way along the sides.
