The Otago Polytechnic campus at Cromwell has done its bit for the community this Christmas by making sure elderly residents unable to cook for themselves have been able to savour some festive fare.
Campus cookery lecturers prepared a whole glazed ham on the bone with preserves of locally grown apricots, which was served at the nearby Ripponburn Hospital and Home on Thursday.
A turkey crown roast with festive stuffing had also been served.
Chef and campus lecturer Chris Smith said the polytechnic took the opportunity wherever possible to benefit the community, and this year's Christmas feast was no different.
"It's a small contribution . . . hopefully, the elderly residents enjoyed their lunch. We used Christmas and the opportunity to showcase Central Otago produce to benefit a part of the community," he said.
