Police officers and dog teams are chasing a man in Alexandra suspected of stealing petrol from petrol stations.
Sergeant Bruce Terry said a 30-year-old male was suspected of "petrol driveoffs'' from stations in Ashburton several days ago and Alexandra this morning.
Two police dog units were called in from Invercargill and were searching properties in the Killarney St area, Sgt Terry said.
He asked anyone who noticed anything suspicious, including anyone jumping over fences, to contact Central Otago police on 03-4402500.
