No arrests at festival

There were no arrests made during the Alexandra Blossom Festival over the weekend but police in the wider Central Otago district were kept busy with calls from the public as visitors headed home after the event.

Central Otago sub-area police supervisor Senior Sergeant Ian Kerrisk said police were happy with the overall behaviour of the 8000-strong crowd at the festival.

Three people who had been at the event were arrested in Queenstown for alleged disorderly behaviour.

Police numbers were boosted by about 20 in Alexandra at the weekend and extra road and highway police officers were also based in the outlying areas.
