The head of Lake Dunstan had not quite warmed enough to lure swimmers when this aerial was taken late last year, but holidaymakers have since flocked to enjoy the lake's blue waters in the usual summer fashion.

The dark green lakeweed has been a concern for some residents for some time now, leading to the creation of the Guardians of Lake Dunstan group last year.

It had a win late last year when Land Information New Zealand introduced a 10-year plan for the control of the lake's lagarosiphon.
