A cycle trail from Palmerston to Dunback and on to Hyde or Middlemarch via Macraes is still being investigated.
An alternative route along the Shag River is being considered for part of the distance between Palmerston and Dunback.
Several local landowners actively supported the cycle trail, Palmerston resident Jane Matchett said.
Other landowners on the suggested routes are invited to contact Mrs Matchett.
