A woman has been airlifted to Timaru Hospital with moderate injures after she fell while cycling the Alps 2 Ocean trail this morning.
Emergency services were called to the scene in a remote area near Omarama about 11am before it was decided to airlift the woman from the scene, as an ambulance was not able to easily access the area.
A St John spokeswoman said the ambulance remained on standby until the woman was evacuated safely.
The woman's age and the nature of her injuries are not known.
