Mackenzie District Council Pukaki-Tekapo councillor Murray Cox said yesterday about 40 people were at the most recent meeting, on Saturday, bringing the total at both to about 120.
The plan is to subdivide and develop 3.65ha of council-owned land between the town centre and the foreshore of Lake Tekapo.
The subdivision will eventually include areas for recreation and 10 lots for potential commercial development including accommodation, cafes, restaurants, a supermarket and shops.
The workshop updated people on the state of the development, the concept plans and sales of land, then asked for input.
The major issues arising were landscaping, parking, traffic flow and integrating the new development with the existing town centre.
There was general support for the development and also for the council being involved in helping advance the project.
Mr Cox said the issues raised would be referred to the developers and planners to see how they could be resolved.
In terms of council involvement, he expected a report, recommendation and decision would be made before the end of March.
The three-stage project would provide financial benefit for the council, with estimates of up to $1 million of net revenue in the first year to 18 months from the first stage.
Already, one parcel of land has been sold to Foodstuffs and a conditional agreement reached on a second.
There was a steady stream of interest in the development, with registrations of interest from various businesses and people wanting to start business in Tekapo.
