Members of the public are being encouraged to contribute to a youth gallery being set up temporarily in Oamaru for Youth Week.

A special art gallery will be established by the Waitaki District Youth Council in a vacant shop next to the Kingsgate Hotel Brydone from May 26 to June 1, with art on display by young people aged between 12 and 25.

People were also asked to contribute to a photo wall by bringing in a photograph of themselves with a young person interacting with friends, family or pets, or a photograph of themselves as a young person.

Contributions were also being sought for an achievements wall, recognising the achievements of young people.

A wearable arts display will be held on May 29, with a music, drama and dance performance on May 30.
