A 51-year-old Airedale man was lucky to escape serious injury when his tractor and a trailer went over a bluff on an Airedale farm about 10am yesterday.
The farmer was feeding out silage and had parked the tractor when it went over a bluff.
He managed to get out of the cab and phoned emergency services.
Sergeant Wayne Brew of Oamaru police said it was believed the man suffered a hip injury.
He was flown to Dunedin Hospital by the Otago Regional Rescue Helicopter.
The occupational safety and health unit of the Department of Labour was notified.
