Hand for Waddell

Dunedin guitarist Rob Waddell loves the resonance and versatility of the instrument.

Waddell (35), a nurse, has been playing the guitar for the past 20 years and was a guest artist at the Whitestone Folk Festival at Camp Iona, Herbert, at the weekend.

About 120 people attended the event, now in its 15th year.

Waddell first attended the festival in 2002 and it was the first folk festival he had played at on the main stage.

Last weekend was his second time at the festival and he was performing music by former Dunedin man Tony Hands, now living on Waiheke Island, which was blues-based, with Spanish inflections.
