One person has died after their vehicle rolled in Kurow, bringing the official Labour holiday road toll to four.
Police said the crash in the Waitaki District happened about 9.30pm yesterday.
Inquiries into the circumstances of the incident are under way.
The road remains closed while the Serious Crash Unit examines the scene, and diversions are in place.
The first death happened when a pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle in Waipapa, Northland, on Friday.
On Saturday afternoon, one person died in a single-vehicle accident on State Highway 26 between Te Aroha and Paeroa, in Waikato.
Later that day, a cyclist died in Waitati, Dunedin. Police said the crash was reported about 6pm in Mt Cargill Rd.
The official holiday weekend road toll period began at 4pm on Friday and ended at 6am today.
Three other deaths happened on Friday before the holiday period began.
Last year, five people died over Labour weekend.
