Police are hunting for the driver who triggered a short pursuit this morning in Oamaru as they allegedly drove into the path of oncoming traffic.
Sergeant Tony Woodbridge, of Oamaru, said a police patrol found a Ford Laser Hatchback driving in a ``dangerous manner'' on Taward St about 5am.
"Police attempted to stop the vehicle, however, the pursuit was abandoned a short time later as the vehicle was driving into the path of other vehicles putting the lives of other members and motorists of the Oamaru public at risk."
Inquiries were continuing to locate the driver this morning.
