Submission flood

Just over 1800 submissions have been received on Williamson Holdings Ltd's controversial dairy farm development at Omarama.

Submissions close this Friday and, by yesterday, 1814 had been received by Environment Canterbury.

The proposals from three companies - Five Rivers Ltd, Southdown Holdings Ltd and Williamson Holdings Ltd - involve establishing 16 dairy farms in the Omarama and Ohau areas, with up to 17,850 cows housed in cubicle stalls.

Submissions closed last month for Five Rivers and Southdown Holdings and attracted 1709 and 1699 respectively.
