A model created by Karitane school pupils will be displayed at Te Papa in Wellington.

Savannah Flack (11) is pictured pointing out features of the display.

The 21 pupils created their model "Kiatiaki' showing some of the buildings, history and tradition of Karitane.

The project was completed in eight school days spread over three weeks, Karitane school project manager Juliet Goodger said.

The model was blessed by elders at the Puketeraki marae this week.

The Karitane school exhibit will be on display at Te Papa as part of a Ngai Tahu feature, from just before Christmas this year until August next year.

The Karitane school pupils were awarded certificates from Te Papa for their work in creating the model.
