Fresh from marshalling the successful re-enactment of the discovery of gold in Arrowtown last month, director Victoria Keating, of Queenstown, said yesterday she was finalising the 10 to 15 scenes which will form Twisted Tales.
Ms Keating said she was considering material by Ronnie Barker, Roald Dahl and Tom Stoppard, among others, for the series of vignettes which will "subvert well-known tales and myths and look at them from a modern point of view, challenged by reality".
The show would not be a pantomime, but children would know the characters, she said.
Auditions for Twisted Tales will be held in the Showbiz Queenstown rooms, Isle St, on November 10 and 11.
The show will run in the Queenstown Gardens every two hours on January 25 to 27. The audience will be guided between scenes dotted around the gardens. Interested people are invited to contact Ms Keating on victoria.keating@worldtravellers.co.nz.
