Young Wakatipu musical talents will gain valuable experience in playing in front of live audiences in a new venue when RockFormation stages the 2011 Big Break on Sunday, May 29.
New bands and newly re-formed bands will play at Revolver, on lower Shotover St, from 2pm.
Registration on the RockFormation website is open until May 13.
Musicians will have the chance to fine-tune their sets for the Queenstown Winter Festival Mardi Gras on June 28 and the Smokefreerockquest Central Otago regional final in Wanaka on July 15.
Acts supported by RockFormation will take to the stage for the public on Buckingham Green, Arrowtown, as part of the autumn festival, on Sunday, May 8, from noon to 3pm.
The charitable trust, formed in 2008, organised 40 live performances for 80 registered musicians over the past 12 months.
The trust aims to provide performance opportunities and mentoring for Wakatipu rock and contemporary youth bands whose members are aged between 13 and 18.
