Chance to give feedback

Wakatipu tourism operators will get their chance to comment on the industry's road map for the next two decades and hear the latest updates when the Tourism Industry Association (TIA) Regional Roadshow rolls up in Queenstown on May 16.

The programme involves an overview of the association's major strategic initiatives and what it hopes to achieve over the next two years with new chief executive Martin Snedden.

The results of the TIA Hotels Annual Operating Survey was billed to provide insights into the significance of the hospitality and tourism industry within the region.

An update on the Tourism Intelligence Strategy, one of the TIA's five major strategic initiatives, aimed to provide information which was accurate, timely and accessible as well as relevant and easily understood by TIA members, the wider tourism industry and other parties with a stake in tourism.

The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment will give an update on regional tourism indicators to show how the tourism dollar is spent within the community.

Input on priorities, challenges and solutions for the tourism industry will be sought on the National Tourism Plan, intended to be the industry's guiding light over the next 10 to 20 years.

Finally, the programme will feature an update from Destination Queenstown chief executive Graham Budd.

The roadshow will stop at Crowne Plaza Queenstown. Association members enter free and non-member entry is $50.
