
The duo performed their Barrel of Laughs comedy show in the Athenaeum Hall and tickled the ribs of about 100 Arrowtown residents.
Mr Shadbolt expressed his interest in performing in Arrowtown when he visited this year's Autumn Festival and the gig had been organised by Arrow Events owner Julie Hughes.
Few topics were out of bounds from the mirth-makers.
The "humble concrete mixer" turned colourful mayor said the only reason he was in office was because he learned about humour.
Mr Shadbolt regaled the audience with his ribbon-cutting capers, his Dancing With The Stars experience, the complaint he received from the Jewish Council about his traffic warden comments and the episode where he promised to tow a concrete mixer behind the mayoral Daimler if he was elected.
Mr Shadbolt referred to the controversy over Boobs On Bikes and wanted to see it held in Invercargill, although it would have to be Boobs On Buses to allow for the weather.
McCormick lambasted the Olympics for its hype, trampers for being boring and National Party leader John Key for being like former Australian Prime Minister John Howard, "a cardigan on legs".
The comedian said women were more comfortable talking about their health issues because they had nicer-sounding words for their body parts.
He then proved his point by asking a random man in the audience how his prostate was and noted how uncomfortable both of them felt, to hoots of laughter.
"That in a nutshell is the problem," Mr McCormick said.
"Tim and I have travelled together for years and we've never had a sincere conversation - a triumph for male relationships."
