Queenstown's St Joseph’s School is about to raise the curtain on its own ‘Eras Tour’.

But erase any thought of a Taylor Swift tribute night from your minds.

Emma Sullivan, the school’s religious studies teacher’s also produced the show, being performed at the Queenstown Memorial Centre next Wednesday and Thursday nights — it was written by her colleague Alice Dunstan, who’s also directing it.

Every child in the school’s involved — Sullivan estimates there’ll be about 150 kids, each of whom will have their moment to shine — as a time-travelling jukebox is used to take the audience on a musical journey.

The school’s spent the past term working on the production, which starts in 1914 with war songs It’s a Long Way to Tipperary and Pack Up Your Troubles, and travels through decades, traversing a variety of genres ranging from country, pop and rock, until they arrive back in the current era.

"Each class has a different decade that we celebrate with dance and song and acting — each class has two songs ... one that really celebrates dance and one that celebrates singing, then they have an acting scene in between each of the songs," Sullivan says.

"It’s so cool.

"They really are so excited — we just had the first whole-school run-through, so it’s nice to see it come together."

Sullivan says the ticket prices of $15 for adults and $5 for kids doesn’t even cover the costs of staging the show.

"We run it at a loss, but it’s our learning for the term, so it’s OK."

The curtain goes up on ‘The St Joseph’s Eras Tour’ at 6.30pm — a cash snack bar will also be operating.
