The Cardrona township's annual vintage-themed fair tomorrow is again aiming to lure people keen for a taste of yesteryear.

Cardrona Vintage Fair organisers Deb Thompson and Hil Stapper said the community-backed event would raise funds for a new playground, to be located on the council reserve grounds by the township's historic hall.

The vintage fair had grown in popularity since it was launched five years ago, Ms Stapper said.

Ms Thompson said there would be more "amazing" stalls at this year's market, all featuring variations on the local vintage theme.

Food stalls numbers selling local produce had grown to include delicacies such as mountain-reared Cardrona Merino lamb, fruit, preserves, and even the valley's "infamous" rabbit stew with broom flower dumplings, Ms Thompson said.

"Nearly every grown-up and child from the Cardrona Valley gets involved," Ms Thompson said.

The vintage fair is being held in the grounds of the Cardrona Hotel on the Crown Range Rd, halfway between Queenstown and Wanaka, and starts at noon.
