First time for sale for 80 years

Lake Hawea high country station Glen Dene has been listed for sale for the first time in more than 80 years.

The station, listed with Sotheby's International Realty, comprises 5929ha of freehold land with more than 20km of lakefront aspect to both Lakes Hawea and Wanaka.

Its farming operation includes the production of cattle, sheep and deer, with current stock numbers about 12,000 units, as well as a hunting operation.

Marketing agent Russell Reddell, who declined to give an estimated asking price for the station, said it was for sale by negotiation.

The QLDC online rating database lists Glen Dene'scapital value as $12,450,000, at the last valuation date, on July 1, 2011.

The station's homestead block, about 10ha in size, was recently offered for sale.

However, it was withdrawn from the market and is now being offered as part of the entire station package.

Station owner Richard Burdon declined to comment.
