About 70 Wakatipu parents, caregivers and future pupils were invited to give their opinions on the fledgling Remarkables Primary School yesterday.

Establishment board treasurer John Stalker welcomed participants to the community forum in the function room of the Queenstown Events Centre.

He said steel frames for the school development were now up and it was on track for completion in February, despite a few delays because of poor weather.

The first of five "learning pods", each involving four classrooms, would open for years 1 and 2 in early February, after the fit-out in January.

A staged opening would follow for years 3 to 8.

School principal Debbie Dickson unveiled the school's new symbolic logo, mission statement, vision statement, its values of "respect, reflect and reward" and encouraged residents to give their feedback.

New deputy principal Sarah Graham was introduced.

Participants were rotated around informal groups, which focused on introducing technology into numeracy and literacy, building plans and establishing a Parent Teacher Association.

All were invited to a guided tour of the school site on Saturday, September 19, between noon and 1pm.
