Two Wakatipu charities are $2000 each better off after proceeds from the Kawarau Jet Locals' Day, on December 6, were donated this week.
The Bruce Grant Youth Trust and Lakeland Christian Camp have historical links to the jet-boat company.
The youth trust was set up as a memorial to a young Queenstown adventurer who died on K2.
In the 13 years since it was established, the trust has distributed over $150,000 to Wakatipu people aged 24 and under.
The trust's purpose is to raise funds to assist or promote young people to undertake sports, arts or cultural activities in which they excel or show a particular interest.
The Christian Camp connection originated in the summer of 1960 when a jet-boating operation was set up to raise funds for the camp's development.
Kawarau Jet director Andrew Brinsley is the chairman of the trust and said he was keen to ensure that both charities benefited from fundraising activities.
"We hold the locals' day to give local people an opportunity to enjoy, at a special rate, one of Queenstown's original adventure activities while raising funds and awareness for local causes."
The latest locals' day marked the 49th anniversary of the birth of Kawarau Jet, the world's first commercial jet-boat operation.
