New Zealand golfer Brad Shilton negotiates Sir Michael Hill's most recent installation, titled The Wolves Are Coming, at The Hills, near Arrowtown, yesterday, during the practice round for the New Zealand PGA Championship.

The 111-piece work by Chinese sculptor Liu Ruowang was unveiled in October last year near the 18th hole. Tournament operations manager Graeme Scott said the area holding the installation, which includes a 3m-tall warrior, was in play but organisers had decided to deal with the pack collectively instead of individually.

''We're playing our normal obstacle rule - you'd go to the nearest point and undertake the drop within one club handle . . . [or] you can go to the nearest drop zone and drop from there. There's probably more chance with the amateurs at the weekend coming in here.''

The tournament begins at The Hills today, with the amateur seeding tournament being held at Millbrook tomorrow.
