Queenstown Lakes District Council consultants have recommended integrating customer services with the district's libraries. However, supporters of the Wanaka Library - and now the Wanaka Community Board - have rejected the suggestion.
The board's submission to the council's draft annual plan appears on the agenda for its meeting tomorrow, signed by chairwoman Rachel Brown.
It states there is ''no appetite in Wanaka'' to move the QLDC customer services staff from their prominent position at the front of the existing Ardmore St council offices.
''The close interface with council staff serves everyone well and enables customer service to be delivered successfully ... we totally endorse keeping customer services staff at Ardmore St.''
The board said the Wanaka community had made it clear it supported retention of all current library services, albeit with a desire for increased opening hours in the evenings at both Wanaka and Hawea to accommodate daytime workers.
''There is no appetite for the inclusion of other council customer services at our libraries.''
The board also endorsed, among other things, increased funds allocated to Lake Wanaka Tourism to ''start approaching ward equity''; $20,000 allocated to the Albert Town Lagoon landscape plan; $40,000 allocated to change the layout of the traffic flow at the Wanaka Wastebusters/transfer station site; and spending any leftover Otta seal budget on incrementally extending the seal on Mt Aspiring Road towards the national park.
It requested a budget item for a CBD/lakefront boundary development plan and an irrigation plan for the Wanaka showgrounds.
Realigning the unsafe Riverbank/Ballantyne Rd intersection was a priority for the board, as was tidying the Pembroke Park end of Brownston St and completing those works this year.
