Two celebrity chefs from Wanaka will entertain at the Wanaka Home and Lifestyle Show tomorrow, when a masterchef of home cooking will appear with an award-winning restaurateur.

Wanaka cook Sue Drummond, a recent contestant on the popular reality-TV cooking show Masterchef, will display her skills alongside Edgewater Resort's executive chef Damon McGinniss, a Hospitality Association of New Zealand (Hanz) award winner.

Mrs Drummond, who made the final six of Masterchef, and Mr McGinniss will be pairing up to demonstrate their different cooking skills at the Wanaka show.

Mrs Drummond said the pair's cooking demonstration would be nowhere near as intense as the high-pressure atmosphere of Masterchef.

"I'd like to think our different approaches will complement each other."

The pair will be preparing two appetisers and one main meal each during their hour-long demonstration.

She hoped her home cooking would match Mr McGinniss's culinary skills and that their side-by-side show would inspire other Wanaka cooks to "have a go" at creating their own kitchen masterpieces.

Since being voted off Masterchef - in a surprise move after three contestants were brought back for a second chance on the combative cooking show - Mrs Drummond has become sought-after as a speaker.

"I've had lots of invites to talk about my experience.

"I've met so many new people and there has been a whole lot of opportunities for me to pursue," she said.

Home and Lifestyle Show director Ed Taylor said a record 50-plus exhibitors would take part in the show at the Lake Wanaka Centre.

Proceeds will go to the Upper Clutha children's specialist medical trust.
