Two Queenstown bars are on the market after just two years under trading company Queenstown Oil and Gas Ltd.
Minus 5 and the Boiler Room, on Steamer Wharf, are being sold through McDonald Vague, an Auckland-based company specialising in business recovery.
McDonald Vague associate Jonathan Barrett this week said the bar owners were taking on a new business venture, but he declined to name it.
He said July had been a good month for the business, and the ice bar opening in Searle Lane was not the reason for the owners' decision to sell.
"They were turning over very good money and producing good cash," he said. "Basically, they had other things they wanted to do."
The Boiler Room and Minus 5 went into receivership under previous owner Jonathan Botherway, of Queenstown, in 2009. He was declared bankrupt the same year.
Both bars were put up for sale by the receiver, PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
Mr Botherway is project manager at the Searle Lane ice bar.
