Cultural and music performances, cooking demonstrations and the Queenstown JazzFest, as part of the Real New Zealand festival, will feature on a stage in Earnslaw Park - if building permission is granted - for the three weeks of the event in October.
The resource consent application was last month lodged by Lakes District Rugby World Cup co-ordinator Jono Sutherland for a series of events during the Rugby World Cup quarterfinals, semifinals and finals weekends.
Boutique food, wine and art festival Taste Queenstown starts on October 8 and runs for two consecutive weekends with stalls featuring local cuisine and wines alongside an arts and crafts market.
On the proposed stage from 12-8pm each day will be cooking displays, competitions, soft rock, Celtic music, dance performances and solo artists.
At 5pm on October 21, the 33rd annual Queenstown JazzFest starts. Temporary road closures have been sought on each of the dates. The Wakatipu Markets will still run on those days, away from the main hub of the festival.
