Council planners have recommended a proposed building platform for a Dublin Bay property near Wanaka be granted resource consent.
Queenstown Lakes District Council commissioners David Clarke and Lyal Cocks considered the application at a resource consent hearing at Edgewater Resort in Wanaka yesterday.
Dublin Bay Wanaka Ltd, a company directed by Arne Gawn, wants to build a 1000sq m (42.61m by 23.50m) building platform and carry out earthworks of about 1625cu m at a site off Dublin Bay Rd.
Under the QLDC district plan rules, establishing a building platform at the rural general-zoned site is considered to be a discretionary activity.
A recommendation from Lakes Environmental planner Vanessa Jones said the proposal had the potential to cause adverse visual affects "to a limited extent".
However, these were thought to be less than minor and if conditions attached to the proposal were accepted, consent should be granted, she said.
